Being LGBTQ+ doesn’t always mean you will have mental health issues, but a review of studies on mental health issues by the LGBTQ+ community has found you may be more likely to develop them.

The reasons why there are higher rates of mental health issues among LGBTQ+ people are complex.  There are many experiences that LGBTQ+ people will often have to deal with as a minority community, such as stigma, prejudice, and discrimination.  Other things such as age, religion, where you live, and your ethnicity can also add extra complications to an already difficult situation.
